  • The Big Year

    The Big Year

This is a must see for any birder (or non birder for that matter). It is hilarious, and why wouldn’t it be with a cast of Steve Martin, Owen Wilson and Jack Black. "The Big Year" presents a lighthearted yet engaging look into the world of birdwatching through the lives of three birders as they compete for the highest number of bird species seen in a year.

  • Dancing With The Birds

    Dancing With The Birds

This is a documentary, and a documentary that will truly hold your attention, because it is narrated by Emmy Award-winner Stephen Fry. "Dancing with the Birds" is visually captivating, it explores the intricate courtship rituals of avian species around the globe - with a humous twist. It is very entertaining for the birder and non birder. As with the Big Year, I have seen this multiple times.

  • Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

I watched this last night. There is a lot of violence in this movie, not really my “cup of tea”, but I did enjoy the art and playing “name that owl species”. I also liked the scene where the owlet tossed his first pellet.

"Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" is an animated fantasy of a young barn owl, who is kidnapped by a group of evil owls known as the Pure Ones.

  • Birders: The Central Park Effect

    Birders: The Central Park Effect

I saw this a few years ago, need to watch it again. It is a documentary that is probably more for the birder, not sure how much a non birder will enjoy it - but try it and prove me wrong. "The Central Park Effect" is a documentary that explores the phenomenon of urban birdwatching in one of New York City's most famous green spaces.

  • Dino Birds - NOVA

Nova Description - “Contrary to popular belief, dinosaurs never went extinct. They’re still alive among us – in the form of birds! Birds are the only dinosaurs that survived the cataclysmic mass extinction caused by an asteroid the size of Mt. Everest crashing into Earth about 66 million years ago. The big question is: How? • A Birder's Guide to Everything

    A Birder's Guide to Everything

I watched this a few years ago. "A Birder's Guide to Everything" combines a teenage coming-of-age story with birdwatching. It follows young birders on a road trip to find a rare bird, symbolizing their personal growth and passion. Although the plot occasionally meanders, the film conveys a heartfelt message about friendship, adventure, and pursuing dreams - birders and non birders may enjoy this film.

  • Free Birds

    Free Birds

"Free Birds" humorously reimagines Thanksgiving, following turkeys Reggie and Jake on a time-travel quest to save their species from being dinner. With vibrant animation and a light plot, it appeals to children and families. The themes of friendship and standing up for beliefs are noteworthy, though the humor may feel predictable to some. Overall, it offers entertaining moments for festive family viewing.
