More Than Two Juveniles?
I stopped by to see the red heads today with a fellow birder. We watched a juvenile with one adult for a bit; it is likely he is still being fed. I did not witness a direct transfer of food, but in a series of pictures (bottom of this page) it appears the adult is feeding him just out of sight. This juvenile did not have any red on the head. As we were leaving we saw the juvenile go to a different snag, and then noticed a second juvenile on the adjacent snag. An adult joined them. Looking at my pictures it appears neither juvenile had red around the eye, but one did have a small area of red on the nape. I did not see the juvenile with red around the eye today. It is a challenge trying to get an accurate count of juveniles.
The pictures below show a possible transfer of food from adult to fledgling.
