  • Yes, this can be a good place to witness the American woodcock mating display at nightfall in early March. I will take you there on the walk (seen farther down this page).

    This is also a good place to see/hear red shouldered hawks. They nest here.

  • Yes, there are paved parking lots throughout the park.

  • Yes, there are bathroom facilities. Locations marked on the park map.

  • Yes, $6 per vehicle, but on the walk we are taking is in an area of the park where there is no fee.

  • It is open 7 days a week 7am to dusk. Visitor Center: 9am – 4pm, Monday- Friday; 10am – 3pm, Saturday & Sunday.

  • Yes, the park can be very crowed during sports events.

    The park is on a flight path so the sound of commercial aircraft can sometimes interfere with hearing the birds.

    Like any birding location - be cautious of ticks. It is best to stay on the trails and avoid walking through tall grasses.

  • A scope is typically not necessary at this location.

  • Mixed - Dirt, grass (well mowed in most places), mulch, gravel and paved.

  • Bottomland deciduous, conifers, hedgerows, farmyard, hay meadows, pasture, grass field, shrubby meadows, freshwater pond.
