Day Four
Today it is a birding day at the Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center and Sanctuary. They have captive birds and animals and many wild birds fly in to the sanctuary to take advantage of food left out for them. The birding was excellent here, we took our time and I saw many new species.
Just like any birding place, there can be “hot spots” - a place that you come upon that is very active with birds. It usually is a sunny spot were they decide to feed. There was such an area here, a place where I observed a number of species - the boat-billed flycatcher, streaked flycatcher, a baltimore oriole and a hoffman’s woodpecker. Other birds came in quickly, I couldn’t Identify them all. Later at the crocodile enclosure an amazon kingfisher flew in, he was there to feed on small fish.
Other “critters” wondered into the sanctuary to take advantage of the available food -
