Description:
Small and chunky body (smallest buteo).
Broad somewhat pointed wings.
Bulky head and chest.
The tail is narrow and squared.
When flying the “elbows” come forward.
During migration they will often be in large flocks or “kettles”.
They often fly in tight circles compared to larger hawks.
