Buteos
Description:
Large buteo.
Longer tail than other buteos.
Translucent crescent before the “hands” visible from below and above.
Long, somewhat broad wings, slightly squared off at the tips.
When flying the wings are held flat when soaring and droop when gliding. The wing beat is similar to accipiters, quick and snappy.
Often seen perched for long periods when looking for prey.
