Dark “wrist” and secondaries.
White underwing coverts.
All dark from above.
Crook at “wrist”.
Often seen hovering, then diving for fish.
Steady flyers, frequently flying in wide circles.
Wing beats are stiff and somewhat shallow.
Found around water.
